March 30 Concert

Mark your calendars for Friday, March 30, 2012, where I’ll be giving another concert to benefit UWEZO ministry!  Last year’s concert at Bruegger’s sold out, so I’m excited to be at a bigger space this year – the Hudson Marina.  This will allow for even more of you to share in this great evening!  Time & ticket info TBA soon, so check back in.

I’m currently in the song planning stages, so I’d love to hear if you have any specific song requests for me to take into consideration!  You can take a look/listen through my songs & videos.  Looking forward to seeing your beautiful faces there. 🙂

Have a miraculous 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!  Repeat after me:  “This is going to be a great year!  In fact, it’s going to be the best year yet!  Miracles are coming my way!”.

Tonight I watched a movie named “Call me Mrs. Miracle”.  It was a cute romantic comedy, with a little old lady who seems to be ‘sent from heaven’ to turn around the lives of a few struggling people.  She brings back the joy of Christmas & throws in a little love to boot. 😉  I daresay Mrs. Miracle’s magical abilities went beyond the tv-screen.  Today my dad installed a new garage door opener!!  You see, the first one broke about 8 years ago & has been sitting around ‘waiting for just 1 part’ to be fixed.  Though it’s a great workout to heave the 2-car-sized door open or clean off the cars that sit OUTSIDE the perfectly spacious garage in the WI winter weather, I can think of other more desirable ways to get exercise!  Needless to say, there was much rejoicing & sense of accomplishment on the first day of the New Year over here!  You just never know when something new & unexpected is headed your way. 😉

So say it with me one more time:  “This is going to be a great year!  In fact, it’s going to be the best year yet!  Miracles are coming my way!”.   Alright, now you’re all set.  You may proceed. 🙂

Start the New Year early: iTunes release

The New Year is a time for leaving the past behind & starting afresh.  Well, you can start early with a newly-released album (“Courage To Sing”) from my church, the House, which is now available on iTunes!   The artist names reflect who wrote each song, but we all collaborated on arranging & recording the whole album.  This is also a “new beginning” for our church, as recording is something we’ve felt we’re supposed to do & are now finally getting our feet wet in.  Any new thing takes courage to begin, hence the title.

So what do you say?  There’s nothing like some new music to refresh your soul. 🙂  Let it usher you into a whole different place of encountering & worshiping God, and inspire you up to take a new step of faith!

CD/Music Video Release!

Back in August I was part of a CD & Music Video recording at my church, the House, & just this past weekend they were finally released!  It’s our first venture into this area & very exciting!  The CD, “Courage To Sing” is available for purchase at the House & early January will be available on iTunes.  I contributed the last track “Because You Are Worthy” & got to play keys on most of the other songs.  Such a great learning experience and I look forward to what’s next for the House!

Click below to watch the music video.  I’m more in the background but if you look for the keyboard player in white behind the girl singer, you’ll see me/my hands a few times.  I also have my “hands out wide” near the end. 😉

December Updates!

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the quickly approaching Christmas break for some good R&R!  But before that, some exciting updates:

1. So, first off, I have to share an exciting healing testimony!  Since my initial diagnosis & diet change in January, I just received new test results that show I am no long dairy-soy-egg intolerant!!  God has healed me!  I still have the gluten/celiac, but I’m sure that’s not far behind. 😉  I was declaring that I would get good test results back, in Jesus’ name, so I rejoiced when my doctor said (a bit surprised) that the test results are some of the cleanest he’s seen!

2. I just got back from listening to the final mix-down of my church’s CD that I was part of recording the summer & it sounds AMAZING!!  So fun to be part of this brand-new venture for our church.  And we have been blessed with the most amazing & dedicated sound guy (Charlie).  Seriously, it’s pretty much because of him this whole process has even been possible.  He also gets more wacky & hilarious the less sleep he gets & the more coffee & sugar he consumes haha. 🙂  The CD will hopefully be released sometime before Christmas, & maybe even the accompanying music video.  Will let you all know when I know more details.

3. A date has been set for my spring concert to benefit UWEZO – March 30, 2012 at the Hudson Marina.  Mark your calendars!

4. Finally, a reminder to come on by Faith Community Church in Hudson, WI – this Friday 12/9 at 7pm to sing & listen to some great Christmas Music!  It’s really for an awesome cause.  Yours truly will be performing a song as well, & there will be an opportunity to bid on a silent auction & sign up for a spot at the above-mentioned concert. 🙂

Remember to take time to enjoy not only the Christmas spirit, but also the Holy Spirit!

Charity Concert 12/9/11

Come to the “Old Fashion Radio Show Christmas Concert” at Faith Community Church in Hudson, WI on Friday, December 9th at 7pm.  It is the annual charity concert to benefit UWEZO, a local ministry that reaches out to inmates & people in addiction recovery locally, & abroad trains up leaders in Kenya.  Last year I donated a private concert to their silent auction (see “Bruegger’s Bagel Concert Montage” in my Video section).  As well, I played a song at their Christmas Concert to give people a taste of my music.  I will be donating another springtime-concert this year (date & location TBA soon), & playing a song at their Charity Concert.  Come join us for a wonderful cozy evening of music & Christmas fun!

Alltid God (Always Good) recording

So, in case you missed me leading worship in Norwegian a few weeks ago, here is the sound clip for you to listen to!  It’s always so fun to hear what a song sounds like with a full band, after only hearing it acoustically. 🙂  To see what I mean, check out my previous post to listen to the rough version (& see the lyrics), & then listen to this one.  Let the love of the Father warm your heart!

Norwegian Worship Song #1

A few weeks ago I wrote my first Norwegian worship song! A friend inspired me by asking me if I could use one at our church sometime when I’m leading worship. So on the way home I was thinking, ‘why haven’t I written any Norwegian songs yet?’ and I decided there was no time like the present. One car ride later I had a song. 🙂 Take a listen & see what you think. I sing in Norwegian first, back to English, back to Norwegian.

Listen below to the first draft.

Lyrics: (Norwegian) Fader, Du er min Gud.  Du er alltid god.  Du er alltid god. / Til Deg alene vi synger.  Til Deg alene vi ber.  Hallelujah, for Du er hellig.  Og Du alene er god.

(English) Father, You are my God.  You are always good.  You are always good. / To You alone we sing.  To You alone we pray.  Hallelujah, for You are holy.  And You alone are good.

music video!

I’m a bit overdue on this post, but about 1 month ago I had the joy of being involved in a music video my church did to go along with the CD we recorded!  I had expected it to be fun, but not completely exhilarating!  Some people had done a lot of work to make the warehouse space behind our church look like a stage, complete with white backdrop squares, lights & a fog machine!  We also had painters, dancers, worshipers, and videographers.  It was amazing to see everyone operating in their gifts & creating a much greater result than I could have ever imagined.  It felt kind of like I was a little kid playing chopsticks on the piano & all of a sudden a master performer came along and added a duet that did circles around what I could play. 🙂

It’s still in the editing process & I have no idea how long that will take.  I’m guessing it’ll be released around the same time as the CD, of which I also have not idea how long it will take haha.  A few months?  In any case, the video will eventually will be posted on youtube & I will keep you in the loop when it is!  Until then, enjoy the beautiful change of colors and seasons!
