I can’t get that song out of my head!

“I can’t

get that

SONG

out of my

HEAD!”

Have you ever said the above phrase?  Haha, I know I have!!  Usually it is a kid’s song that I’ve been practicing for school – very repetitious, very annoying after the 50th play in my head. 😉  But thankfully the kid’s songs I listen to are usually about God, so I guess it’s a good thing to have running through my mind!

God has been reminding me lately how crucial it is to get that seed of the Word of God planted deeply within me, & to daily meditate on it, so that I ‘can’t get it out of my head’.  Psalm 1:1-3 says: “Blessed is the man…[whose]…delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day & night.  He is like a tree panted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers”.  Also, Colossians 3:16 reads: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”

You see, that is the power of music.  There’s a reason songs stick in our head – they were meant to.  We may try to memorize a scripture, but put a little diddy with it & suddenly it’s not so hard to remember!  Often God can speak to us throughout the day by popping a song from before back into our minds.

What an awesome tool & gift God’s given us through music to internalize His Word!  I encourage you next time you study the Word to give it a try & sing it.  Don’t worry about how good it sounds or not, just make something up, in worship to God.  The Psalms are a great place to start, seeing as they were all originally in song form. 🙂

Yesterday at Caribou, a friend & I had an incredible encounter with a man that had a command of Bible scripture like I’ve never seen!  It both convicted & inspired me.  You see, I have been walking with God for 15+ years and I realized I still have a long way to go with knowing & living His Word like that.  Yikes!  Well, I can’t get that time back, but I sure can determine to wisely use the time I still have in front of me to pursue God like never before.

I want to be like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaf never fades!  Don’t you?!
